Our Approach to Sustainability

Wavy wall

We are constantly looking at new ways to make our business more sustainable in order to have net positive impact on the local economy, society and the environment simultaneously.

Our approach is focused on measuring, managing and improving our performance across 8 critical issues.

Advocating For sustainability through our services

Over 80% of our business is building bespoke event and exhibition stands, which can sometimes be an unsustainable activity. When we get the designs for an exhibition stand, it is already too late to fundamentally make it more sustainable, that is why we are focused on having a dialogue with our customers about how to make their event, exhibition stand or activation more sustainable in the design phase. This includes improving the design to reduce waste, providing options for more sustainable materials and ensuring there is a proper plan for the lifecycle of every item that is purchased or made.

We are active members of isla, an events industry movement working to accelerate the sector transition to a sustainable future.

Health and Safety

Our aim is to have zero recordable injuries in our workshop and while on-site. This means meeting all applicable health and safety regulations, while building a health and safety culture that reduces the risk of serious injury and long-term negative health impacts. All employees, contractors and clients are encouraged to raise health and safety concerns which can then be addressed in a collaborative manner.

Climate Change and Emissions

As the most pressing issue of our time, we must contribute to tackling the climate change challenge. We are striving to be a carbon neutral company with a commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2040. You can read more about that in our 2022 Emissions Report.

Local Community

We want to be a positive and active member of the local community of Tendring and North Essex - with our workshop being recognised as a hub of creativity that contributes positively to society.

Responsible material usage and waste

Our approach to responsible material use has three levels, the first is to use lower impact materials, for example FSC certified wood or recycled plastics. Second is to focus on efficient use of materials, this means calculating what we need, trying to get the most out of every sheet of wood, and also reusing materials and offcuts for new projects. Finally, anything that can not be reused is taken by our waste contractor CHS Environmental that recycles 95% of waste.

Local Procurement and Economic Impact

If possible, we procure goods and services from the local area (within 50 miles) and employ people form within Essex - contributing to a thriving local business environment.

Water and Energy

Being as efficient as possible in the use of energy and water resources, switching off all appliances at the end of the day and overnight. We also purchase 100% renewable energy from Ecotricity the greenest energy provider in the UK, generating their own renewable energy.

Jobs and Employment

Attracting, training and retaining creative local talent and providing them with an enriching and engaging environment for them to contribute, learn and grow professionally and personally.
